Alternator condition monitoring

This concerns condition monitoring of marine alternators on a new build ship. These are rated 750 KW(electical) and 1400 KWe.
I would like to explore what Condition Monitoring techniques we could use for constant surveillance.

Ships are governed by ship related industry standards, e.g. IEEE 45, Det Norske Veritas, Lloyds, MIL Stds., etc. These are often met by shipyards as applicable.
