Alternate Section & Detail Views

I have an issue concerning creating details from an alternate section veiw. The section view is created say at 12:00 and 3:00 alignment. Everything on it looks fine. I create a detail circle and view scaled up so I can see the components and it will not allow me to dimension some of the edges on the detail view. Anyone run across this problem and know of a fix?

I have seen this. Sometimes for me it was fixed by saving then closing SolidWorks. Then reopen and try dimensioning again. Do not know any other fixes.
