Allowable Deflection for Large Glazed Patio Facade

Hello All:
Wondering what value do you guys use for something like this. Customer wants a very large area glazed facing his rear yard. He wants the header above doors the skinniest possible. I am running some quick frame FEA with SAP. What allowable out of plane deflection you use. There will be three doors 12'x7'. I am in the neighborhood of 350 sf of glass. Wind is estimated at 17 psf (South central Texas, not hurricane area). I am framing with 4'' HSS cols and light W shapes for beams.

As Jed said, see if the glazing manufacturer has a tolerance, and then take it with a grain of salt. They will be covering their tails. If I was really concerned about it I might consider L/600. If it's good enough for masonry it's likely good enough for most facades. With something of that size, keeping deflection down shouldn't increase the sizes too much.

Keep in mind that table 1604.3 of the 2009 IBC has L/240 for Wind loads for exterior walls with brittle finishes. I wouldn't go that low, but worth keeping in the back of your mind.

Thanks for your reply. I had this L/600 on the back of my head and L/240 I agree, is really low even for tempered glass. Door manufacturer is Andersen,so I think is fine on that side. Really appreciate your feedback.
