I am looking for a stand alone software package that can check beam elemnts to AISC (WSD & LRFD) and particularly fabricated box sections with slender elemnts. e.g web h/tw = 120 flange b/tf = 55. I have used STAAD for a code check but my hand calcs give a different IR. Would like to do a third check by another software package.

I would trust a manual calculation check more than relying on a new piece of software for benchmarking STAAD, but ENERCALC and StruCalc seem to be popular for element-level designs/checks. The Beam Calculator at AISC Steel Tools site (available for free) MAY do the HSS calculations, but you'd have to see for yourself.

Agree - with my manual checks I get a UR much different from STAAD code check. Also UR's calculated by STAAD code to the 9th Edition and 360-05 differ widly. e.g STAAD 360-05 code check fails the member whilst STAAD 9th EDition code check passes the member. Results are with STAAD but as yet no response (3 weeks now)
