Air pressure needed at compressor outlet

Dear All,
Suppose I have a 5 storey building and air at 5 bar is needed at the 5th floor where height of each floor is 3 mtr, what should be the pressure at the compressor discharge which is placed at the ground floor? In general whether elevation plays a role in determining the discharge pressure of the compressor? as in the case of water, in order to pump it to a height of 10 mtr, we need to have 1 bar static pressure + pressure loss in the pipe.

Significant changes in altitude affects pressures when moving from one elevation to another. Fortunately this influence is relatively small and can be easily accommodated.

Atmospheric pressure is the force exerted on objects by the weight of the air molecules above them. While air molecules are invisible, they have mass and occupy space.

As altitude increases, atmospheric pressure decreases. For example, atmospheric pressure pushes against the earth at 14.7 pounds per square inch (1 kilogram per square centimeter) at sea level, yet drops to 14.2 pounds per square inch at 1,000 feet. It is also important to realize there is a difference between atmospheric pressure and gauge pressure. Most pressure gauges are designed to measure the amount of pressure above the ambient atmospheric pressure.

Technically, the approach is the same as for a liquid filled pipe. If you calculate the additional head that 15m of compressed air however represents, you'll find why it's not typically a factor as BIMR discussed.
 
Where do you cool the air, and separate the condensed moisture?

That may affect your system's performance.

Most small compressors would have difficulty maintaining a pressure of +/- .01 BAR, +/- .15 psi and would be set at a slightly higher pressure say 5.5 bar and brought to the desired pressure with a regulator at the point of use. This also will account for other line losses.
