I am attempting to R&D an inexpensive wide band AF meter using a Bosch LSU4 sensor. So far I have seen how the traditional o2 sensors have no linierity at all. There are products that use UEGO sensors, but these are to much. I have also seen at: , a kit, and shcematics for use with an NTK sensor. But these sensors have dried up, are expensive, and their use in an AF meter is now proprietary (some company called Horibla or something like that). Now the Bosch sensor, beside being more responsive, is cheaper ($25-$50 vs $125-$400) and availible. The guys at DIY-WB have been off for a while, due, it appears, to a system crash. I'm trying to contact them to see if thier unit, which it appears can be put together for less then $40.00, can use the Bosch sensor. Also, I have found a company in Austrailia (Tech-Edge) that sells an AFM, and an AFM kit for the Bosch. Kit about $130 US.
SO, if anyone familiar with any of this, has any suggestions, schematics, or is otherwise interested in pursuing this with me please post. Although I have training and experience with automotive/motorcycle, I am really first an electronics engineer. I think a cheap, (read: under $40 + sensor) meter could be made that maybe is not lab grade, but somewhere between the cheap narrow-band units, and the more expensive AFMs that are out there.
