Hi,
I need to measure X number of air changes for a given volume (internal area of a motor vehicle)as a check against manufacturers claims. I require a simple, portable device which is reasonably accurate, has some form of read out. A data recording/storage facility would be nice.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Derek

For measurement of Flow the easiest type of instrument to use, in my opinion would be a digital anemometer. A pitot tube could also be used.

Another approach to the problem would be to consider the rated flowrate of the fans that supply air to the car. If you know the volume of empty air space in the car, and assume that what goes in must come out then you could theoretically determine what the turnover rate is.

Results found with the measurement equipment could be very useful in calculating flowrate at different fan speeds, or when the car is moving or idled, AC or Heat on/off.

Good luck and Happy trails, Hopefully you won't have to drive too much to find your results.
