For acidic applications, 904L is required but it is hard to source.
What can be the alternative material considering corrossion resistance?
Thanks in advance for comments.
They type of acid, concentrations, temperature and impurities are critical.
There are very few applications where 904L would be the first or even second choice.
I am unaware of any service adequately resisted by 904L that is not also adequately resisted by alloy C, though I stand to be corrected. That's not so hard to source- it's just expensive.
So what you're likely asking for is, what alternative alloys are as resistant to your service as 904L would be? To know that, we need details- lots of them.
thanks for input.
It is phosphoric acid plant , process water.
temp is max 50 deg. C but content of p.w. is not given.
I was trying to judge depending on corrosion rates of 904L
Check valves were required with 904L but hard to supply.
Phos acid is a good match with 904L.
There is quite a bit of data that indicates that modern 6% Mo superaustenitic alloys do well in this also, such as 654SMO, AL-6XN, 1925hMo.
