Does anyone know how I could go about adjusting the timing on my 99 jeep cherokee, I have installed a flowmaster muffler, and I have been told to take advantage of this, I need to bump up the timing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the service manual. Chiltons, Haynes or the Jeep factory service manuals will all have info on setting the timing.

If you ever found any information on setting the timing, I'd appreciate knowing about it. I have a 99 cherokee as well and have the same problem. The Haynes manual has no information on setting the timing.

I'm not sure on a Jeep, but most late model vehicles have "distributorless" ignitions, utilizing a fixed pickup on the crankshaft for "base" timing information and adjusting the timing according to current engine and driving conditions and the instructions programmed into the engine computer. If all you see under the hood is a coil pak (multiple coils) wired directly to the spark plugs, you have this system. You need to have the computer "reprogrammed" or buy a power chip. Talk to a performance shop or look in the back of any number of cas/truck enthusiast magazines for sources.
