I need some help creating an Adjustable assembly. The help instructions in ST3 are not clear to me and I'm hoping someone out there can clarify it for me. I have a subassembly that has 2 brackets on a post that I need to slide up and down the post as required for the top level assemblies it is used on.

SE ST3 WinXP SP3

In the sub assy, suppress the constraint that locks their location in the direction of travel you wish to be free to adjust at the next level.

Posting guidelines faq731-376 (probably not aimed specifically at you)
What is Engineering anyway: faq1088-1484
