adhesive simulation

Hello,
I want to model an adhesive in my analysis. Does anyone have suggestions on how to do it. I think adhesives have a range of behaviors, usually does one model it as low stiffness linear elastic or is hyperelastic applicable (documentation all hyperelastic are for elastomer/rubber materials)
