We are looking at replacing our suction valves to these Centrifugal pumps.

The picture shown is of the suction valve pipework and as you can see there is small bore pipework going from the suction valve body to the pump body.

Does anyone know the need for this pipework as we are looking at doing away with it with the new valve?

For me, its the wrong side of the gate valve to be providing any use?

Thanks

Looks like horizontal split case pump to which bends can be fitted to the suction inlet provided they are the correct orientation - however not correct on this unit, it probably works but certainly not ideal.

Agree - the pipe appears of no value.
