I am trying to add a weight column to my BOM, easy enough to do. However; the mass property i.e. - "SW-Mass@partnum.sldprt" (was not part of the custom properties in the model template (The main assembly has several hundred sub parts). Is it possible to add this value to the BOM to retrieve with out having to edit the properties of every single part first?

I had a similar situation a few years ago. I ended up running a macro on each part; I am not aware of a way to do it automatically.

CBL,

My goodness... I'm not worthy. A star for you.

Thanks, this is what I was afraid of.

P.S. Javelin is our VAR and we have Properlinks (I assume that is what you were referring to with the Javware). You cannot do this with property links.

I am really suprised that the drawing BOM can't populate with SW Model properties - that they have to be a custom property.

If the model had to calculate and store every conceivable property that everybody might ever need, the file size would be much larger than it already is.

The custom property dialogue box is a simple way to have SW calculate & give access to only the SW model properties that you need.

Thanks for the feedback re Javware PropertyLinks. I did not know it could not do that.

CBL-

Are you actively using the swCP3 add-in that you posted a link for?

I get an error message when trying to run it in SW2007 sp1.0

No, I use Propa-gator. Have never used swCP3.

What is the error message?

[cheers]

Well, I tried to load it into SW07 but received "The application failed to initialize" when opening the '.dll' file.

It loaded and ran in SW06 without problems. It looks to be an OK program, but does not appear to propagate the config specific properties. Unfortunately for me those are the only ones I ever use.

Yeah, that is the error message I get. I wish I still had SW06 so I could give it a test run.

The author of that software is a member of Eng-Tips, but unfortunately I don't remember his handle.

Use the Feedback section at to let him know of the problem with SW07 & request a fix.
