Good day!

I am currently tasked to make an additional platform on an existing piperack. On the top of piperack, there are horizontal braces with TOS -150mm. Also, to support the grating of the additional platform, I need to add horizontal beams. I plan to use H150 (h=150)(KS Standard) directly above the existing horizontal braces. Is it okay?

Consult a structural engineer. If you are a "structural engineer", consult with somebody with more experience.

Nobody could say if the use of H150 is OK or not...You are expected to calculate and see if it is OK.. You need to check also the piperack frame elements .
You may look to the following ARAMCO Best Practice SABP-M-007 or better to ask consultancy of an experienced structural engineer.

I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure..It is: Try to please everybody.

I'd look at just demoing the existing horizontal brace

thank you all for the reply. I just realized it could be similar to floor joists to support the grating. I'll demo and check the existing vertical braces.

Good post Hturkak...

No! It is not okay. It needs the review of a competent engineer who accepts responsibility for the proposed revisions.
