You must copy your font (.ttf) from WINDOWS\FONTS\ or other source in <ProE load directory>\text. Then restart ProE. You'll be able to use this font in sketch, or drawing mode.

If you want to use this font as default font in your drawings, then in the usascii folder under the \text\ folder copy an existing .ndx file and rename it as you wish (ex: myfont.ndx). No spaces allowed in your file name! Then edit this file (wordpad or notepad) and add your font name on the first line and keep only the special.fnt font. See my example below:

monos.ttf
special.fnt

My custom font is monos.ttf (you can put here your custom font. Mine is CATIA V5. I used here to have the same visual aspect when using CATIA and PROE to create drawings). The other font, special.fnt is a ProE font used for special characters. You must add tis special.fnt bo properly display the GD&T, dimeters, degree signs etc.

Then edit the drawing dtl file (you can do it in your drawing session) and replace the font variable with your filename.ndx. See below:

default_font myfont

The extension ".ndx" is NOT required.

Then you can use this in font in drawings instead of ProE default font.

Good luck

Good tips Hora.

I use the config.pro option "pro_font_dir" set to my Windo$e font directory, so Pro/E has access to all of the same fonts as my other applications (I only use Arial and Times New Roman, however).

You are right JKG.

I think in V2000i it was the only way to add fonts in ProE. I didn't check this config option from then. I'm still on old 2001.

THANK YOU HORA, IT WORKS!!!

NOW, THERE IS ANOTHER PROBLEM, I HAVE COPYED 2 FONTS TO THERE, ONE IS ENGLISH, ANOTHER ONE IS CHINESE. BOTH ARE TRUE FONTS.
THE ENGLISH ONE DID WORKS AND THE CHINESE ONE DID NOT.

BEFORE I COPY THE FONTS, I CHANGED FONT'S NAME FROME CHINESE TO ENGLISH.

ALSO, THE PRO/E I USING NOW IS WF2.0 M120 ENGLISH VERSION.

THANK YOU AGAIN!

I have no experience with chinese names. But you MUST NOT change the font name. Your font in windows\fonts folder has a neme and when you'll copy in any other folder, you will end with adifferent name. DO NOT change this name or you will no be able to use it.

Better, use the JGK technique with the pro_font_dir variable in config.pro file and let the system to give you the real name of the font.

Good luck,

I would like to ask:
When you have a certain new font that you have loaded into a pro/e drawing, does the new font migrate with the drawing to other workstations when the drawing is accessed there. Or does the other person at the other workstation have to have that font?

Thanks,
SrG.

Yes, they do have to have that font installed and set in Pro/E using Hora's method or the pro_font_dir path option set.

i.e. If your format uses Times New Roman, and my machine does not have a path set to that font, any drawings I make using your format will just have the Pro/E default font, and chances are everything will look wonky. Once I set up the font, however, everything should look as it does on your machine.
