Hi,

I want to perform Adaptive remeshing on my model, which I created in the Hypermesh and simulated in Abaqus. When I am trying to do that in Abaqus CAE, It is giving error that "Orphan Mesh are not allowed in remeshing".

looking for help! Thanks!

When you import mesh created in external software to Abaqus it’s imported as orphan mesh (without associated geometry). Such mesh can’t be refined in regular way. So you have to import the CAD model of this part and perform meshing in Abaqus or, if you have such CAD model and the geometry is relatively simple, use Geometry Edit —> Face —> From element faces to replace orphan mesh with underlying geometry (and then mesh it in Abaqus).

thanks @FEA way !

so it means the adaptive meshing functions could be used only after meshing within abaqus?

Yes, adaptive remeshing feature works only with native meshes, i.e. those created in Abaqus.
