Our group has recently upgraded to NX 8.5 (previously using 7.5). What we are finding is that when we make a feature group active, it now automatically makes that feature group the current feature. If you try to make a later feature current, it inactivates the previously activated feature group.

In short: I want to make a feature group active without making it the current feature. Can I? Why or why not? Thanks in advance.

If the feature group created is "timestamped", it will become current when you activate it so that new features will belong in the correct timestamped order.

If the feature group is created as "floating", it will not become the current feature when you activate it.

If I remember correctly, the timestamped vs floating option was added in NX 8.

This may be related to some new options added to NX 8.5 which allows you to specify whether you want 'Floating' or 'Timestmaped' feature groups created. This is controlled by a Customer Default setting found at...

Customer Defaults -> Modeling -> Feature Group -> All

Also, if while you have the 'Feature Group' dialog open, you press the F1 key the on context help gives some explanations about these settings.
