A supplier quoted me a granular activated carbon(GAC) with a grade of "W 12 x 40 mesh". Can anybody elaborate what this mean? I couldn't ask the supplier as he pressumes I already know it?

Thanks.

Looks like a welded wire fabric spec. If it is, the first number indicates the spacing of the wire (in); the second number indicates the size of the cross-sectional area within the wire (in x .01).

But I can't see using WWF as the grating to hold GAC, so check with structural grating manufacturers. The nomenclature may (or may not) be the same.

Remember: The Chinese ideogram for “crisis” is comprised of the characters for “danger” and “opportunity.”

Gladken: This is a typical sizing terminology in water treatment media. It means the size distribution of the particles is such that they will (usually 99%) will go through a 12 mesh screen (12 holes to a linear inch) and (99%) not go through a 40 mesh screen (40 holes to a linear inch)

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys!

This helps me a lot in evaluating which type and what size I am going to buy for Activated Carbon Filter (ACF).
