ACI318 Section D.7. Is anyone familiar with the reason that the traditional elliptical equation using the 5/3 exponential was replaced with Equation D-32? I couldn't find anywhere in the commentary that explained the reasoning. I ask because many anchor manufacturers publish load charts using the traditional 5/3 exponential for tension and shear interaction on their anchors as they typically have in the past and the acceptability of using that equation came up during a plan check.
