Can i use the Accelerometer of my phone to detect the small vibrations? if yes, then how? What application should i use? Is there any need of extra hardware?

How small? A cellphone's accelerometers are noisy, so your vibration would need to be larger than the noise to get accurate readings.
How fast? A cellphone's acceleromter is limited to maybe 100 Hz.

There are zillions of apps that can read the accels and log the data, at least for Android.

You would also need some rigid means of coupling the vibration to the phone.

Offhand, it would seem to me that an Arduino based solution might be better.
