Acceleration length

For a 45 mph posted speed limit, what would be the acceleration length? It is in urban area and the curb radius is 35'. As per AASHTO exhibit 10-70, the length i'm coming up is around 600'? It appears too long? Please help me with any suggestion or refrence.
