I'm sure many of you have encountered this when you used 2003..."dwg needs recovery because of block name "".
Are there any patches or other methods to prevent this from happening?

Not really. With AutoCAD, I think we are fortunate that it even suggests a solution to its problem. Do a recover and then an audit once opened and then save.

Well, I know about how to recover the drawings using utilities. It just gets old to have to keep doing it. I can remember about a year ago I came across a lisp routine or patch of something that stopped the problem from happening anymore. I just can't remember where I found it. I was hoping someone had that information.

Thanks anyway though.

The closest I have seen is to batch "recover" the drawings before you work on them. There are various scripting progerams to aid in this. We use software from CADfx to batch recover. Good luck.
