Abaqus NLGEOM matrix stiffness updates

Hello!
I have a question abaut NLGEOM parameter. I'm aware that the parameter upates stiffness matrices beetwen analysis. Does the default newtons method for Quasi-static (Static) analysis (Abaqus/Standard) updates the stiffnes matrix in every increment only? Or does it also at every iteration of each increment? Can anyone explain which procedure is used?
