Hi,
I am trying to model multiple particles impact using ABAQUS/Explicit and it is working well. But I have one problem that all particles after impact onto the plate bounced back. I need all particles to impact, deformed and stick with plate. I am using same materials for particles and plate. Can anyone suggest how to stop the particles bouncing in ABAQUS?
Thanks in advance.

How are you modeling the particles - with what element type and material model ?

Hi,

Thanks for your response. The particles are modelled as 3D deformable. Element type is Explicit. Showing Hex element (Reduced integration and other properties included average strain, distortion control, enhance hourglass. The rest is default settings. In interaction, both Fake prop and Cohesive prop were introduced. The material of particle is Cu and it is impacting on Cu plate. After impacting I need the particle to remain sticking with a plate in deformed shape but it is bouncing back in a deformed shape. It's flying back. I would appreciate, If you could suggest any variable or option in Abaqus so that I can stop this bouncing back effect. I have attached an image as well.

Thanks for your assistance.

Looking forward to hear from you,

Regards,

The mesh is very coarse. Apart from that, whether it bounces back or not depends mainly on the elastoplastic material properties.

Hi,

I tried with fine mesh but same result. Yes agree with you. That's why I am seeking help to how to stop the particles from bouncing. Which variable in abaqus or material property I should change or introduced to stop this bouncing effect. Should I introduce damping coefficient or gravity? I fyes then what would be the value? PL. suggest.
