Abaqus design question

I created the design in Abaqus, but I don't know how to assign materials to each part of the design. Should I create two sketches for this, or can I do it with just one sketch?

You have to partition this part. Check the partitioning tools - they offer different methods of splitting the volumes into segments (cells).

Even within the same part, if you can create different sets (can be geometry based or elements based), then you can assign different material definitions / section definition to the different sets.
