Dear all,

Can someone suggest me how can a predefined a temperature field which will vary in all three dimensions. In this regards i found each nodes can be given a respective temperature but anyone suggest me how to do it . Thanks in advance.

There are two ways to prescribe temperature to shell elements and include through-thickness variation:
1) define the value at the reference surface and gradient through the thickness:
- in the shell section editor select integration during analysis and choose "Temperature variation: Linear through thickness"
- create predefined field (direct specification, analytical or discrete field) and choose "Section variation: Gradient through shell section"

2) define the values at equally spaced points through the thickness:
- in the shell section editor select integration during analysis and choose "Temperature variation: Piecewise linear over n values"
- create predefined field (direct specification, analytical or discrete field) and choose "Section variation: Defined at shell/beam temperature points"
