I just realized that if all the components are modeled in one part, the contact of the the components, can not be defined as surfaces and thus the contact properties can not be used. my question is, is there a way I can still define the contact property instead of modelling different components into different parts?
the example is as below:
the model is one single part, is there anyway I can define the contact properties in red areas?

Thanks

If you model something this way then mesh is continuous as regions are treated just like partitions. Thus, there’s no need to use contact in this case.
