We just got a new rugged laptop in for our electricians and I am trying to get PLC 500 dos base software to work with my PIC. The problem is that I have windows 2000 professional and they are not very compatiable. I have seen this work before using the rs linx to communicate but have been unable to figure out how to make it work. I have the 1747-PIC configured as my driver in rs linx but cain't get the ACH. program to see it. I was wondering if anyone out there has run into this problem and was able to solve it?

Thanks in advance.
Daymond

Have you tried comms.>upload(or download if it's a new PLC) in RSLogix500? If it's a new PLC you will have to create new project and follow the steps including writting your program then download.

My RS logics is working fine with the pic. I'm trying to also use the dos based plc 500 software. It uses a ACH. format instead of a RSS. one. I have my rs linx seeing the plc but I cain't get the plc 500 software to see the rs linx. When I try to have it see what driver is being used, it doesn't see any.
Thanks,
Daymond

Hello;
I do not think that the APS software uses RsLinx. The DOS based software is called APS. Shutdown RsLinx completely as it is probably using the com port.

It doesn't use it normally, but Rockwell tech support said that it is possible to use it in some versions and get it to work on a Windows 2000 system. I believe my version may be too old of a version. I thought someone may had found a way to do it. There is no support for the program on windows 2000.

What processor are you trying to link with?
SLC 5/03 and higher have a built in serial port. You can connect directly using a null modem cable.

Thats the problem. We still have severial 5/02's.
