Hi all : Could you explain how it is performed the heat treatment to temper T651 on a lever made from 7075 Al. Thanks in advance.

The Metals Handbook says:
solution heat treat: 490C
age 120C 24 hours
stretch 1-3% ( for rod, bar, shapes, extrusions)

Hi mcguire, thanks for your answer, what does it mean "solution heat"?
Which value could I get , tensile and yield strength?
As you may notice the only I know from AL , is that is ligth.
I need to do a lever to handle about 144 Kg by a 0.850 mt moment, alternating at 1000 cicles RPM sewping 2 degree.
I can get local 9.70 mm thick plate to cut the lever.
Any help or recomendation will be usefull.

Thanks again.

Solution heat means to heat the aluminum to this temperature until it is completely heated and precipitates are in solution. Give your thickness 15 to 30 minutes, then quench and age. Then stretch 1-3%. It sounds like you would be better off buying the material in this temper to begin with.
7075 T651 will have yield strength 538 MPa minimum, tensile strength 600 MPa min and 5% min elongation.

Hi mcguire, as you say, I got from the shelf a TEE profile tempered , so I am making the lever just now.

Thanks for your advice.
