Fabriaction of fan with blades made from Corten A, 6mm thick vanes, 1600mm dia, welded to mild steel hub 30mm thick with 400mm bore.
Using Corten to not have to paint and would also not want to stress relieve either.
Completed an ANSYS study showing at over speed welds are below fatique limits.

Is this necessary to stress relieve after weldment if distortion can be controlled?

How did you determine the fatigue limit of the material? All thermomechanical processing, from initial sheet manufacture through welding and post weld heat treatment, must be accounted for when analysis fatigue limits.

Cory

paddyB;
Is this an FD fan element? If so, it is not necessary to PWHT with this material thickness. However, I would recommend that you pay close attention to the fillet weld profiles and blend grind all weld toes.
