Hi,

Thanks to John Baker, I got information about the new NX release (NX9).
I'd love to get some information about the 4GD technology (in general) and Siemns's 9in particular).
When, why, how and where could it be used?...............
Could it be used for (large) automotive projects?

Thanks

Here is a link to a 'white paper' which provides some more details about our 4GD technology. Note that this document was created specifically to address the needs of the shipbuilding industry since that is where we are currently focusing this effort but eventually we will bring it to the general market, however, most of the description of the technology itself and how we intend that it be used should still be of interest to non-marine industry people:

To an Engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Just home from the PLM Europe where i heard something similar to "next target for 4GD is Automotive".

In my perception the 4GD might be the most exciting i have seen in a very long time !

The idea is nothing to new. it's the evolution of what designer do with component grouping and grid to position the component without mate.
Rememeber that to use this solution, the company need to set very well the absolute position of component in the ship project.
This is the big work, but very big, without them, the 4GD doesn't work.
Teamcenter will open compoents usin her absolute position project.

Thank you...

Using NX 8 and TC9.1
