Hello and thanks for reading this thread. Is there a way to test/determine which filler metal has been used to make a weld in the field without a destructive test? FDOT requires 5356 filler metal on certain joints/products and I'm concerned that some folks are welding with 4043 in place of the 5356 due to it's ease of use, comparatively speaking. And would like to be able to test to clarify which alloy has been used in the welds.

Thank you once again!
