4017 Counter Signal Amplification

I have a 4017 counter triggered by a 555 timer using an 6 volt Vcc. When the counter goes through the ten step sequence the output through each outlet is 6V at 3mA. I would like to step this output up to 150mA to drive a 6V coil relay.

What is a recommended way to step up the output? I would appreciate the help if anyone has an idea.

Simplest: Use a MOSFET.
Source---GND
GATE --- input
Drain --- Relay -
Relay+ --- 12V
Cheapest:
NPN Darlington.
Emitter --- GND
Coll --- RElay -
base --- 10Kohm
10Kohm --- input
You may want to use 5V relay to compensate
for the voltage drop.

CONNECT in any case a diode antiparallel to the relay.

Suggestions:
1. There are some miniature solid state relays (pcb mount), that could potentially accomplish the current amplification mentioned in your original posting.
2. E.g. Check Omron solid state relays, Crydom, etc. They could have some parts from posting 2 incorporated and tested, which could save you some work and money.
 
you might look at a 4066 quad bilateral switch
