4 point bending test FEA model 1

Hi

Can anyone share a 4 point bending test FEA model of steel beam or any other specimen?

My specimen size is 24x3x0.382".

Well, the FEA model will depend on what you want to get out of it (moment, deflection, stress, etc.). But the usual intent of the 4 point bending is to have a portion with a constant moment and to get the failure through that portion. I attached an image of such a scenario and the associated bending moment (using beam elements). Of course, you can calculate this by hand rather easily. This is from a FEA program that uses 1D elements in 2D space. I didn't put your actual geometry but you should get the idea. FYI, you only need 3 beam elements to create the moment curve, but I added a few extra to get a more accurate deflected shape (for reference).

Perhaps the OP did not realize you can do this by hand or how to apply the B.C.? Sometimes after you visualize it, it becomes clear after the fact.

Thanks everyone. I just needed to back out the "equivalent modulus" of a composite panel by looking at the displacement for a certain load value. This is for a case study.
