I have a 3MVA padmount transformer that requires primary protection. can you recommend a stand alone fuse device for outdoor application that we can use for tranformer protection?

S&C (and others) makes a pad-mount fuse and switch cubicle, switch on one side, fuse on the other. It is suitable for for service entrance as defined in the NEC, although it may not be labeled that way. If you are using fuses for protection of pad-mount transformers, a better solution in the future would be to specify the transformer with fuses.

Dear luaytoma,

please, may you clarify just a bit more on your question. Do you need mechanical or electrical protection? such as SC current, breaking current and other specs.

S&C makes a stand alone fused/switch cube. I would consider southwest electric if you would like to save a bunch of money and have a way quicker lead time.

The SWE switch I bought for a 4200kva transformer had a 200A fuse and 400A rated switch in a 90" tall box.
