3G and 1G position

Dear experts,

As per ASME Section IX, if a plate welder qualified for 3G position he is qualified for 1G as well.

I have a welder qualified for 3G position with Automatic vertical welding machine (EGW process).

Is he qualified for 1G with LT7 down flat (SAW process) ?

First the person is a welding operator, not a welder.

EGW is a different process than SAW, so I would believe the operator is not qualified for SAW.
