3D rendering and visualization

I am looking to learn how to do some 3d rendering and visualization for highway and traffic design. I am experienced with Microstation and Eagle Point, but was wondering if other software would be better for rendering digital pictures. My goal is start a part time business focusing on drafting, rendering and visualization.

you could try 3-d studio max, more of an architectural program but you can install autocad into it.

One excellent piece of software is Realimation which runs on microstation and does a rendering far better that microstation and autocad.
