3d piping libraries

I am trying to find the structure of the databases for pipe and fittings libraries that hold the dimensions for 3d cad systems - particularly bentley systems. I have seen how the spec gen processes work but sureley these mmust ultimately relate to a database of dimensional characterics for the various pipes and fittings
