3d Cad Programs with (Stable) database capabilities

I have used quickcad (autodesk) for a few years and recently went to turbocad since our compnay wanted some 3d representations of what we build. Both of these products experience errors when using the database functions. The higher costing turbocad V10.2 is actually MUCH less stable then the quickcad product but we are now hooked on "3d"

Are there any stable programs in the sub $500.00 range that can be used to make pretty simple drawings, render them, and store information about components in a dataabase ?

Any help is appreciated.

I'm not sure about the database cabability, but Rhino3D (

runs about $900.00. Alibre Basic (

http://www.alibre.com)

runs about $800.00. Both are pretty good CAD products for the price. They both have free demos that are fully functional...you may want to download them and give them a try.

I think that you will struggle to find a sub $500 program with the capabilities of TC. I would recommend Vectorworks but that is more expensive at around $1400, but still cheaper (and better) than Autocad.

I used to use TC but it just doesn't come up to the mark in a professional environment.

Thanks. I spent some time looking around and I believe your right. With its problems turbocad is actually a little more impressive now but still a pain when it crashes. I spoke with someone at Alibre yesterday and may try that. Its just to get some of the same features I get in Turbocad pro I get over the $1000.00 range but I may have to.
