we are going to build a steel stud partition wall in an existing building. the top of stud will be connected to the 3/4" OSB roof theathing with a slip clip.

we can not penetrate the roof. So I am looking for some
3/4" long wood screws. it seems they have #6x3/4", #8x3/4" but I can not find any capacity (shear) of such screws to osb, any suggestions? thank you.

Here's one paper, but it only deals with deck screws.

In the past, I've gone through the yield mode equations of the NDS assuming the lowest grade of wood used in the plywood. I had to do a little searching to find out what that wood was, but.......

The APA's Panel Design Specification gives a dowel bearing strength for OSB (of 4650 psi). You can download it here for free - (it's about halfway down the page)
You'll have to register. The dowel bearing strength I mention is on page 16. It looks like you can use that in the yield limit equations of the NDS to come up with values.

The NDS (2001 ed, should be the same for 2005) Table 11.3.2B gives plywood and OSB Dowel Bearing values and specific gravity values for their equations and tables.

woodman-
Nice find. I didn't see that. Interestingly, the values are identical to the APA's Panel Design Spec.

My suggestion would be to NOT attach to the sheathing.
There has to be a better way.
Put some blocking between whatever roof members are there supporting the OSB, than attach the wall to the blocking.

dcceecy...ToadJones nailed it...don't screw with the roof!! Find another attachment method. This one has technical and liability implications...neither of which is good!
