I have a brand new 1 year old building with an 8" service weight cast iron sanitary line running under the slab. Sometime during construction a 3 foot section of a 2x4 piece of wood made its way into the 8" sewer line. The problem was not discovered until a year later when blockages started to occur during high flow conditions. A camera was sent down the drain line and discovered the 2x4 lodged in a 45 degree turn in the 8" pipe. The pipe is 6 feet below the finished floor elevation.
Is there any way to clear this 2x4 by any methods short of tearing out the floor, saw cutting the slab and digging the 6 feet down to the line? Any way to soften up or break apart the 2x4 into smaller pieces from inside the pipe so it can pass through the 45 degree turn and another 90 degree turn further downstream?
