Hi everyone.

I'm a bit confused about an item our customer has required from us in a project. The item is a blind 2 inch API flange of 10K rating (I assume it should be a 6BX flange, right?).

The problem is that the nominal size of blind 6BX flanges in API 6A standard starts from 5 inch(ish...), while numerous manufacturers have claimed on their websites that they can supply flanges under 5" with our required spec.

I was hoping someone could shed some light on this matter.

Look on page 276 and 277 of API 6A 20th Ed. You will find the specs for nominal blind flanges of nominal size 1-13/16 thru 5-1/8. Keep in mind, API nominal sizes differ in nomenclature. The nominal sizes available are 1-13/16, 2-1/16 2-9/16, 3-1/16, etc... A scan through 6A and you get the gist.

Check with the customer. If a 2" API blind flange w/ 10 ksi rating was requested, they probably meant 2-1/16 10 ksi.

I hope this helps

Thanks for the info. I do believe our customer also meant 2-1/16.

My problem is that the table for blind flanges in API 6A (Table 46 in 19th edition) starts from size 5-1/8 for the pressure rating I require. For unlisted sizes, the table refers me to another table (44, which is for blind and test flanges). But this table doesn't include any dimensions for the added hub thickness.
