Hi All,
I want to know whether 2B mill finish is equivalent to finish with 32 micro inch average roughness (Ra).
Context is for sanitary application. As per 3A, the surface roughness should not be more than 32 micro inch. I was told that 2B mill finish is equivalent to 32 Ra finish.
Just want your input.

Thanks,

Don't you mean 2 BA finish?
A 2B finish would ential a cold roll after the final anneal.

Can't answer your question without looking closer at the samples.
My opinion is that you would be better off with a bright annealed finish even if it is rougher than 32 rather than a mechanically polished 32 finish.
Using 3A for sanitary is a very minimum requirement. You need to do better.
