Hi
Can any one tell me if there are off the shelf IC's that will take a 24v AC input and give me a 5v out put Ive been using Diode, cap and opto isolater but would like to cut down
on components

dpj,
I don't know of any ICs that will do this but there are modules available.
I don't think they are cost effective compaired to a couple of components but check out Farnell electronics web site and Radio Spare web site. They do sell them.
There maybe other companies in your region selling similiar items.

Regards Don

Digikey stocks an 8-pin minidip IC from QT Optoelectronics called an "AC Line Monitor" which might do your job. TTL Output. Digikey p/n M1D400QT-ND cost $3.13 unit qty at this posting. I do not know if it will work down to 24VAC or not.

There are also many large solid state relays and machine controller input modules which would work, but these are all $30 or more each and bulky.

Good luck! Kevin VanZuilen "KevinVZ"

Suggestion: It would be useful to know if the output 5V is dc or ac.
