I'm working on a project that requires 48v but we only need 3 amps (I'm not worried if I get more but the voltage is important)
I am looking to find a 48v alternator or 2 24v alternators to wire in series. Might even play with the regulator and just rev up the rpms.

So now the question

I am able to find wind generators for $600 dollars. Does anyone know where I can find some alternators for less than $300?

Thanks

Just use a standard 24V or 12V alternator and a DC to DC converter. They take in one voltage and current and put out a different one. 48V is a standard output because telecom uses it.

AC or DC?

Nice to know Keith, but I was wondering if the OP was looking for ac or dc power output!

Well I was looking for DC but I found what I was looking for at windbluepower.com.

Automotive alternators are capable of 100 volts. The challenge is to fool the voltage regulator with some voltage divider resistors.
