2006 SP 4.0 PDF

Since installing SP 4.0 from SP3.0, I cannot print a PDF created from a SW drawing. It doesn't matter if I print and pick "Adobe PDF" as the printer, or if I File > "Save As" PDF.

We have Adobe Acrobat 6 Professional and the printer is an HP LaserJet 5100.

I can open up the PDF, but if I try to print it, the printer gives an "out of memory" error. I can print PDF's from SP3.0, and even large file-size PDF's. I even tried sending it to other printers and also sent it to other people so they could try and print it, but still no-go. Is anyone else having this problem with SP4.0, or is something hosed on my system?

You may have to update your printer drivers.

Have you tried changing the "Saved as" version option when printing to "Adobe PDF" printer?

Thanks CBL, now I can print BUT Adobe bites when it comes to creating PDFs. Our drawings are typically mixed A and B size sheets. Whenever creating PDF's with Bluebeam, it automatically created the sheets in the PDF's as A and B sheets. With Adobe, either all sheets are A size or B size.

I went from SP3.0 to SP4.0, so Solidwork's switch from Bluebeam didn't affect me. This also explains why the PDF macro "SaveAsPDFWhatToPlot" isn't working anymore.

Does it save properly when you set _all_ views in your drawing to wireframe? SolidWorks sends the drawing as a vector file if there are no 'solid' views, as soon as you have a shaded view in your drawing both PDF and print will be converted to a bitmap. Could it be that the drive your windows print spooler file gets stored on is out of diskspace?

All views are "hidden line removed" and a few "hidden lines visible", but no shaded views. I believe it has more to do with the PDF than the print spool. I printed some PDF's 2-3 times the file size of the SP4.0 PDF, and I also printed some pictures that were much larger in file size and detail.

Use the Use this documents settings option in the Page setup of the Adobe PDF printer dialogue box.

When saved each sheet should be saved with the correct sheet size & layout setting.
