All,
not quite the normal question for this forum, but thought it worth asking...
any truth to what i was told that dodge will offer another (in addition to cms or completely new mfg) mfg diesel engine for 2003, with an torque/hp output of 600ft-#'s/300hp? to compete w/ duramax?

Some rumor that Dodge will use the Benz 6 liter inline six currently used in Europe (kinda makes sense, Daimler-Benz owns Chrysler, and Cummins is not a DB subsidiary).

In all fairness, this rumor has been floating around for a couple of years now, and several industry publications have stated so, but still the Cummins is here.

Regards, Franz

I did a bit of 'window shopping' a few days ago as my 91 Dodge is at 172,000 miles (the Cummins runs JUST fine, thank you very much. Still @ 20 mpg.) Just looking you understand. From what I could determine, the 600 torque figure and 300hp are what will be for the new Cummins. Yeah, they all said it will still be Cummins. The rumors of the MB connection in ALL the Chrysler line are everywhere. We'll see.

Oh, to the shopping. I just fell in love again with the Hemi, but the looks of the truck absolutely turn me off and I am a died in the wool Dodge man. Oh, well. Maybe next year. I did look at the Ford F-150 Crew with the Running W interior option---COOOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!(I haven't deserted Dodge just yet, was having the wife's Lincoln serviced.)

To make you drool more, last August, my wife and I bought the King Ranch F-150 (the running "W") and it is awesome! It is better appointed than the other CARS we viewed, plus it came with a 10,000 lb towing package, 5.4, 6 disk CD, leather seats, etc. VERY NICE cross country tow rig for our GT Hawk. Still, it gets 14mpg, on cruise, with the AC on, and the trailer w/car, about 17mpg empty. Needless to say, guess who gets to drive the "King"!

DON'T DO THIS TO ME, FRANZ! MY DODGE HAS BEEN PAID OFF FOR 7 1/2 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, how about 0.9% for 3 years? This is the first time I have ever been ahead of the curve?

The truck is GREAT! Very quiet, extremely responsive, and a perfect mint green with the saddle leather interior, and fits my red head wife to a tee! When she sat in it the first time and gave me that ladies grin, I knew I was doomed! Hmm, I should have known by now.

I had a 1992 3/4 ton Dodge w/Cummins and a 1993 1 ton w/Cummins, both company trucks used for dual fuel research. The 1 ton got the same mileage as the 3/4 ton, over 20 mpg with the cruise and AC on. Still, they aren't as nice as my King. Oops, did I say mine?
