1500 W at 50 kV

What's the best method for getting a 50 kV at 1500 W in a lab setting? Power supplies at these voltages seem to mostly be fairly low power (the highest I've seen was 120 W.) Anyone know of anything more convenient than a power line transformer (if that's even a functional idea.)?
 
Yep, like that. I've also found one now through Matsuada that could work.

We were hoping for high frequency, but that is looking cost prohibitive. DC may cut it though; currently not quite sure.

You can try to use a High voltage transformer to reach the 50 kV, I would use a Full Bridge topology.
