1144 Fatigue Proof alternative .... is there a suitable material alternative

We are looking for alternative materials to make our drill arbors out of. For many years we have used fatigue proof steel for these components. As of late, with the current pandemic and other supply chain issues, we are having increased lead times and back orders for this material.

Is there a suitable material that can be used to make drill arbors and similar components? That will not require a secondary heat treating operation?

What are the issues with using a 4140 Pre-Hard? It does not have the tensile or yield strength...

Are e.t.d.150 or a Alloy Winco Steel more readily available?

Any insight would be most helpful!

If the 1144 is stronger than the 4140 then you need 4140 with a lower temperature temper.
Any '40' C steel will reach nearly identical strength.
A double temper would be nice because it should give you lower residual stress.
