Does anyone have the weight for a 1.5" wet branch line?

Weight of 1-1/2" steel pipe is 2.72 lbs/ft. Weight of water in pipe would be 0.88 lb/ft. So, 3.6 lbs/ft?

That's what I was calculating as well. Curious if there was actual published weights but given that you got the same thing I feel good running with that. Thanks!

On half a dozen or so PEMBs I've been involved with, the sprinkler loading all of them have used is 3 psf for roof design with some designs going back 50 years... seems to be a common number. That's not the weight per foot, but the value they used for sprinkler loading for the complete system.

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?

My fancy dancy table from B-Line strut systems indicates 1 1/2" standard schedule 40 pipe filled with water is 3.6 plf. so dauwerda nailed it.

Thanks dik, yeah, I am familiar with using 3 psf as a uniform weight. I am reviewing some specific existing purlins that are having load added to them and need to sharpen my pencil. These purlins only have a couple perpendicular 1.5" branch lines and no mains so I am trying to review for the actual weight.

Along that line these purlins also have a couple ducts running across them. I don't suppose anyone has a good resource for duct weights? In this case rectangular duct, and I don't know the gauge. Maybe I should start another thread.

Thanks again.

Sounds like a handy resource jayrod. I don't suppose you have a link?

Eaton Catalog. It's in the reference data portion. Page 285 of that pdf has for PVC page 286 is copper tubing, page 287 is schedule 40 steel. Gives weights of plain piping and water filled. I have just that last page printed off and stuck to my cube wall.
